Ipswich boys get road win in Roscoe

Ipswich obtained a 68-33 boys' high school basketball win over North Central on January 18 in Roscoe.

The Tigers gradually expanded their first-quarter 17-12 lead into a more comfortable 34-21 halftime edge and were even further ahead 58-30 with a quarter to play. They coasted down the stretch.

As you might guess 11 different IHS players got into their scoring column, led by 23 points from Taylor Thorson who included a pair of treys. Trevor Beyers was next with 10 points also climbing the double-figure scoring plateau that night. (He added five of Ipswich's 14 assists.) And Trevor Heinz nearly reach double-figures with his nine points, while Colby Sylte was close behind with eight points, including two three-balls as well.

Carter Geditz and Ty Kadlec each scored four points, followed by Tyler Hettich with a trey. Jace Konsor, Zach Geditz and Luke Peterson each scored two points and Turner Thorson, a free throw.

The Thunder would obtain seven different scorers that evening, led by Bryce Beitelspacher with 12 points and Colton Mohr and Ben Beadle with five points apiece.

Ipswich shot 27-62 from the floor that would include those five treys and went 9-20 at the charity stripe. The Thunder were 11-27 in their floor-shot opportunities that featured four treys and were 7-14 in their free throw attempts.

Ipswich collected 38 rebounds, paced by Taylor Thorson with 12 for a double-double. (Eight of his rebounds were obtained off the offensive glass.) Carson Gohl and Kadlec were next with five rebounds apiece. Meanwhile the hosts obtained 22 rebounds, led by Beadle and Bryce Beitelspacher with three apiece.

Ipswich sustained 17 turnovers; NC, 32 and 23 of those were caused by Tiger steals. That phase of the game was led by Taylor Thorson, Trevor Beyers and Carter Geditz with three thefts apiece.

The IHS boys and girls will travel to Selby on Jan. 28 to play Herreid/Selby Area. The boys host Highmore-Harrold on Jan. 29.
