Ipswich boys stop Hitchcock-Tulare

Ipswich easily won a 66-37 home-court boys varsity basketball clash with the Hitchcock-Tulare Patriots on February 15 .

The non-conference boys' only confrontation featured Ipswich out-scoring its visitors 20-8 in the first quarter, capped by a Carter Geditz buzzer-beating basket. (Ipswich's initial double-figure lead had been 14-4, thanks to an old fashioned three-point play by Taylor Thorson.)

Ipswich also out-scored the Patriots 17-14 during the second quarter, as well as the third quarter with a 18-9 scoring edge and would then also utilize a 11-6 lead of the final stanza.

Ipswich obtained some balanced scoring that evening, paced by Taylor Thorson with 16 points, including one trey. Next was Ian Beyers with 15 counters and he included a pair of treys. Their third double-digit scorer that night would become Trevor Beyers also in double-figures with 11 points and he featured a pair of three-balls as well.

Their arsenal would also include Trevor Heinz with eight points that included two treys and Carson Gohl with seven points. Then came Carter Geditz with four points, Ty Kadlec with three points and seven of his team's 25 assists. And Zach Geditz added two points to the Tiger cause.

The Patriots meanwhile obtained only five scorers none of which were in double-figures and were led by Jackson Maynard's nine points, followed closely by Kyle Hamilton with his eight points.

The Tigers were 27-57 in their overall floor-shot effort which would indeed feature those seven treys. They also utilized five accurate free throws in eight steps to the line.

The Patriots countered with a 16-48 shooting evening with only one of their baskets a trey. They went 4-5 in free-throw attempts, though.

Ipswich enjoyed a huge 42-19 rebounding edge, led by Gohl with nine boards and Ian Beyers with five rebounds. (He added three of his team's eight steals.) The turnover situation found Ipswich with 17 turnovers and the Patriots with 12.
