February 23, 2022

The Ipswich Tiger boys improved their record to 13-6 with an impressive 70-26 non-conference win over Florence/Henry during a classic in Warner on February 19.

The Tigers rolled out to a 21-5 first-quarter advantage and wouldn't look back. They led 40-13 at intermission and 58-19 with three quarters on the scoreboard.

The IHS boys got 11 players into their scorebook in a balanced team effort, led by Ty Kadlec and Chet Peterson with 13 points apiece and Peterson would include a trey. (Kadlec also dished out six of his team's 15 assists.) Trevor Beyers also reached double-digits with his 11 points featuring a trio of treys. Carson Gohl almost got there with his nine points that would include one trey.

Trevor Heinz scored five points, including a trey and Ian Beyers also included a trey among his four points. Taylor Thorson and Carter Geditz each also tallied four points and Jace Konsor, three points with a trey. Evan Onken and Zach Geditz each contributed two points.

The Florence/Henry attack was led by Peyton Roe with six points. Next was Logan Vavreska with five points, followed by Tegan Sumner and Ty Bergh with four points apiece and Andrew Schroeder with three points. Clay Trupe and Mahki Keller each added a deuce.

The Tigers were 27-54 from the floor that featured those eight treys and were 8-15 at the charity stripe. Florence/Henry was 10-45 from the floor including a pair of treys and were 4-5 in their free throw opportunities.

The Tigers utilized 49 total rebounds, led by Taylor Thorson and Gohl with eight apiece, followed by Kadlec with five. The Florence/ Henry boarders came away with 18, led by Sumner with five.

Ipswich only committed eight turnovers; F/H, 11. So neither team would have a bunch of miscues. And Ipswich had eight steals, led by Gohl and Kadlec with two each.

Ipswich will finish out its regular-season schedule, hosting LRC foe Leola/Frederick on Friday, February 25 in the Tiger Den.
