Marley Guthmiller won the pole vault in Ipswich

Ipswich swept its own varsity invitational track and field meet last Thursday, on the varsity side, while the youthful Tiger thinclad boys were able to capture their middle-school results as well. (But the Ipswich middle-school girls' team would end up second only to Warner.)

Overall team depth would play a role in both varsity wins as well as some outstanding individual performances. The IHS boys overpowered runners-up Northwestern 233.75 to 151.5 and the Lady Tigers would top second-place Aberdeen Roncalli 209 to 164.

Ty Kadlec would once again sweep the sprints winning both the 100 and the 200 in :10.99 and :22.45, respectively. And teammate Carson Gohl finished second in both instances - :11.22 and :23.10, respectively. And for good measure Colby Sylte was a close third in both cases.

Maxwell Kulesa earned a 800-meter run win with a 2:08.54 clocking. Teammate Ian Beyers was second in 2:11.22. And Kulesa would add a second-place 1600-meter run effort that afternoon in 4:58.90. Carson Geditz would win the 110-meter hurdles in just under 16 seconds and was second in the longer hurdles in :43.58. And Tyler Hettich added a 5-08.00 high jump win.

Gohl, Sylte, Heinz and Kadlec teamed up for a 4x100 relay victory in :46.67. And Zach Geditz would win both throwing events, the shot put in 44-03.25 and the discus spin measured at 131-03. A teammate Lucas Roland was second in the iron ball competition at 44-00.75.

Rasmus Loken added a 9-06.00 pole vault win with Brody Davis second at 9-00.00 And Sylte was second in the triple-jump outcome at 38-10.50.

Now for the girls. They definitely had a balanced team effort. But Madisyn Gellhaus won the 800-meter run in 2:38.25. And so did Marley Guthmiller in the pole vault with a winning 9-06.00 leap. Quincy Olivier was second there in 8-06.00.

Several seconds would definitely bolster their team total that afternoon. Guthmiller was second in the 100-meter hurdles in :19.15, So was Gracyn Kadlec in the 3200-meter run in 12:46.51.

Gracie Lange was second in the high jump at 4-09.00 and also second in the long jump at 15-00.25. Yet another individual second would come from Ashley Ptacek in the triple jump at 30-09.25.

And the Lady Tigers would augment their individual efforts with some awesome relay performances led by a first in the 4x100 at :55.59. Those runners would be Brianna Geditz, Ptacek, Kathryn Kilber and Vanesa Diaz.

Ipswich was second in the 4x400 ran by Ptacek, Guthmiller, Gabby Wald and Diaz in 4:31.67. The 4x800 foursome also finished second in 11:05.77 (Emily DeRaad, Kadlec, Wald and Ashlinn Hartwell).
