Ipswich should have some impressive returning volleyball experience this year, featuring six seniors on the roster.

One of them, Katie Bierman, is apparently injured for the season, according to coach Trent Osborne. So the other seniors will be Vanesa Diaz, Madison Geditz, Baylee Kulesa, Gracie Lange and Quincy Olivier. Karlie Gohl is the lone junior, but there will be six sophomore netters, Reaghan Bowers, Jayda Gisi, Kathryn Kilber, Rylee Kleffman, Kaylin Onken, and Jaydin Stiles.

And there will be 12 newcomers, indeed no fewer than a dozen ninth-grade hopefuls. They are Natalie Crissman, Ava Davis, Brianna Geditz, Marley Guthmiller, Gracyn Kadlec, Josie Knutson, Praise Lange, Neveah Moser, Charli Rawden, Gabby Wald, Karlie Weisser and Darby Yost.

That all adds up to 25 9-12 netters for Osborne and his assistant Doug Duncan.

Their first match will be on August 23, hosting a LRC foe, Aberdeen Christian. That league is tough in any sport, but especially volleyball. Their initial road trip will then be to Highmore-Harrold on August 25 which is a non-conference affair. That team had ended Ipswich's 2021 campaign after a Region 2B loss that left the Tigers at 14-14. That's exactly at .500. So Osborne's netters would obviously love to improve on that record this time around. One opportunity could be during a home invitational tourney on September 17 in the Tiger Den.
