Successful meet for Tigers in Gettysburg

Ipswich attended a cross country meet at Potter County last Saturday and came away with a boys' varsity team win 12 to 21 over Highmore-Harrold. The IHS girls finished second only to Potter County 6 to 21.

The individual girls' winner was Dannika Kaup of PC with her 19:42.51 clocking. And the Battlers indeed would go 1-2-3. Then Madyson Gellhaus placed fifth for Ipswich in 20:01.73. Gracyn Kadlec was right behind her in sixth at 20:12.75. Ava Davis became their third scorer in 16th at 23:33.78.

Aubree DeRaad would win the girls' JV outcome in 17:37.72. Bella Unser was fifth in 20:28.51 and then came Hailey Usselman in 10th at 25:02.21. And Sophia Knittel was third in girls' middle-school action at 14:01.82. Aubrey Crissman was seventh in 14:28.50 followed by Olivia Kadlec 13th in 16:52.32 and Darcy Yost was 16th in 18:52.02.

The varsity boys' results saw Dylan Wald in third at 17:23.19. (Nicholas Schlachter of Potter County was first in 16:51.80 followed by Dawson Hale of H-H in 17:16.53.) But Ipswich's Xavier Kadlec placed fourth in 17:28.29 and Turner Thorson fifth in 17:36.45. Tye Pietz finished 20th in 19:47.02, followed by Tyler Gellhaus 26th in 20:40.64.

North Central won the boys' JV outcome with 15 team points, led by Drew Arbach first in 15:40.97, where Ipswich didn't enter. But the youthful Tigers would win the boys' middle-school run, led by Ethan Wald in third at 12:22.93 and Jace Stiles was next in sixth in 13:05.42, followed by Clayton Horst, eighth in 13:45.00 and Benjamin Hoyle added a tenth at 14:23.18. Gavin Horst was 12th at 14:54.86. Jasper Opsahl was next at 15th in 16:58.28 and then Edison Unser 16th in 17:51.16.

The IHS Cross Country team runs in Faulkton today, Sept. 21 at 1 p.m. They are scheduled to compete at the Miller Invitational on Monday, Sept. 26.
