Tyler Hettich (3) eludes Titans in the LRC Classic football game in Aberdeen on Saturday.

Ipswich claimed a huge 50-30 high school varsity football win over league rival Leola-Frederick last Saturday afternoon during the Lake Region Conference Football Classic at Dakotah Bank Stadium in Aberdeen. The teams traded some early blows, but Ipswich would gradually build a three-possession lead over the Titans.

Tyler Hettich was one reason why. All he did was rush for 151 yards, catch for 47 yards and cross the goal line four times. His first scoring play was a 12-yard pass reception from quarterback Ian Beyers. But the Titans responded with a seven-yard TD run by Hans Lapka and his PAT carry heading into the second quarter. And a busy quarter it was!

The Titans got a five-yard TD run by Brayden Sumption to briefly go up 14-6. But Tyler Hettich responded with a seven-yard TD run, as well as a PAT carry, then a Tyler Hettich five-yard scamper into paydirt with Beyers passing to Trevor Heinz for the PATs. Beyers also found Heinz for a 48-yard TD completion. And Beyers would keep for the conversion carry. The Titans then got a one-yard TD carry by Lapka with Sumption rushing for the PATs, And Ipswich barely found time for a 63-yard break-away score by who else? Yes, Tyler Hettich.

Neither team would score during the third-quarter action, though. But in the final quarter Beyers again found Heinz for a 32-yard aerial score and he also passed to Tyler Hettich for the two-point conversion. Carter Geditz would then score from one-yard out, just for some  insurance. That's because the Titans would indeed manufacture the final score of the afternoon, a ten-yard rush by Levi Little and he also carried for the conversion.

Ipswich finished with 237 total yards rushing, led by those 151 from Tyler Hettich. And Carter Geditz added 47 yards rushing, Kyle Hettich added 27 more yards rushing and Casey Geditz with 12. The Titans countered with 255 rushing yards led by Sumption's 96.

Ipswich would end up with a 17-22 272-yard passing effort from Beyers and his favorite receiver would again become Heinz with 147 yards on six catches. Next would be Colby Sylte with one catch for 52 yards and Tyler Hettich, 7-47. Chet Peterson had one grab for 20 yards. The Titans countered with 89 passing yards.

Carter Geditz had 12 tackles and Tyler Hettich came away with 11 tackles defensively, one sack and one interception, a crucial one at that. Peterson also claimed six tackles and a sack, with Heinz adding six tackles. The Titans were led by five tackles from Little.

The win lifted Ipswich to 4-2 on the year and Ipswich's bye week is this week.
