October 12, 2022

Ipswich was able to place fifth at a Battler invitational volleyball tourney last Saturday in Gettysburg.

The Tigers capped this event with a 25-21, 25-19 consolation victory over the host team. Needless to say Coach Trent Osborne was quite happy about that, finishing with a 2-2 record there. "A spirited and more intense group showed up at the tourney," he said. "We had a lot of great possessions and came away from the day a much better team than we have been recently. We finished the day as consolation champs but played much better than our two and two record on the day. The final match of pool play was a well-played match by both teams and had the house packed and energized as it was the final match of pool play still going on. The ladies found some more energy and finished the tourney with a 2-0 revenge win vs. Potter County in that consolation match."

This was certainly a balanced attack led by Kulesa at 24-25 with nine kills, Lange 13-17 with seven kills and Guthmiller 7-8, 3.

Ipswich set that up with 41 errorless setting attempts  including 21 assists, led by Olivier's 36-36, 19-assists day. In serving, Ipswich finished 39 of 43 with eight aces. Lange was 9-9 with three aces and Brianna Geditz 6-6 with two aces.
