October 26, 2022

Ipswich lost a 3-1 Lake Region Conference varsity volleyball verdict recently to Leola-Fredrick on October 17 on the road.

"Just two many errors for us to overcome," explained Coach Trent Osborne."You can't continue to score points for the other team and expect to beat teams very often."

Ipswich indeed lost its opener 25-20 as well as set number two by an identical margin. But the Tigers regrouped to go ahead 25-15 in set number three. Then it was the Titans turn to rally which they did rather easily 25-13.

Some little things indeed matter. The hosts had a 15-12 lead in ace serves. But the visitors would out-number their hosts 43-31 in set assists. Ipswich would also lead 60-55 in digs.

The Tigers featured 20 kills from Baylee Kulesa among her 41 accurate hits. Grace Lange wasn't too far back with a 18-kills evening included in 40 of 48 tries. Ipswich was 101-127 in total hits that included 43 kills. Ipswich was 75-80 in total serving attempts including Lange who went 19-19 at the line with two aces and Madison Geditz was next at 15-16 with four aces. Right behind them were Kulesa and Quincey Olivier with 13 accurate serving attempts that featured two aces apiece.

Region 6B tournament play begins on Monday, Oct. 31, when the eight and nine seeds play. The rest of the 6B teams play on Tuesday, Nov. 1 with each game at the site of the higher seed. The winner of Monday’s game plays the top seed. The Region tournament continues play on Nov. 3 in parallel brackets. The pairings will be determined after the regular season is complete.
