Ipswich boys end regular season

 


Ipswich defeated Leola/ Frederick 60-37 on Friday, February 24 in boys LRC league basketball action at Leola.

The Tigers led 14-9 after a quarter and would then enjoy a 27-23 halftime lead. The second half was quite different, though. Ipswich would feature a 45-32 third-quarter edge and then exploded for a 15-5 scoring advantage down the stretch.

The Tigers were led by Trevor Heinz with 20 points and he included a pair of treys. Ian Beyers also got into double-figures with 15 points and he included a quartet of treys. Tyler Hettich ended up with eight points and Chet Peterson scored five points including a trey. Next would be Carter Geditz with four points, followed by Jace Konsor with a trey for his three points. Colby Sylte and Turner Thorson each scored two points. Blake Rich added a free throw.

The hosts would be led by Noah Kippley with 11 points in their balanced scoring effort. Brayden Sumption, Connor Spitzer and Ethan Petrich all added six points. Hans Lapka was next with five points followed by Samuel Vetter with his three points.

The Tigers made 24 baskets that included eight treys and were 4-8 in their free throw opportunities. The Titans were able to score 16 baskets that featured two treys, but were only 3-12 in their free throw tries.

That sent Ipswich into Region 6B action at home in the Tiger Den on Tuesday, February 28. The tourney concludes in parallel brackets on March 3.
