Tigers Girls stopped by Sully Buttes in Region 6B

Sully Buttes was able to defeat the Ipswich girls 54-36 in Region 6B high school basketball action last Friday in Onida.

Sully Buttes and Lyman are the two advancing teams from Region 6B in the statewide 16 teams hoping to secure one of the eight berths in the upcoming State B.

Meanwhile the Chargers lived up to their name vs. Ipswich charging ahead 20-12 at the first quarter break. And things didn't get a whole lot better for the Tiger facing a 34-19 deficit at intermission as they were doubled 14-7 during that stanza. The Chargers would then out-score Ipswich 16-11 in the third stanza and comfortably survived a final quarter 6-4 Tiger edge.

Sully Buttes obtained a 44.0 field goal percentage, while Ipswich was limited to 33.3 percent field goal shooting. The Chargers included four treys in their 22 total floor shots and Ipswich, three treys among 14 total field goals. The Chargers made six free throws and Ipswich, five.

The hosts utilized 39 rebounds and Ipswich, 15 rebounds in a balanced effort. The Chargers committed 18 turnovers and Ipswich only 14, one of the highlights of the evening. The Tigers also compensated their own miscues with 11 steals, led by Brianna Geditz with four thefts.

Gabby Wald led Ipswich scorers with her 18 points including two treys and Ashlyn Weig also climbed the double-figure scoring plateau with her 11 points and Ipswich's remaining trey. Tristan Geditz tallied three points. And Baylee Kulesa and Katie Bierman each netted two points.

Sully Buttes was led by two familiar names, Lydia Hill with 19 points and Stevie Wittler with 18 points and four other Chargers combined for the rest of their points.
