Ipswich hosted a familiar rival in boys' Class B post-season high school basketball action last Tuesday in the Tiger Den and the Tigers came away with a convincing 67-52 Region 6B victory. That ended the Trojans' season record at 9-12, while Ipswich improved to 14-6 at that juncture of its season.

Faulkton never led! And that's partly because the Tigers would score the first 10 points of the game before Faulkton could even get on the scoreboard.

Trevor Heinz started things with a basket in the paint and Ian Beyers and Heinz would add back to back layups, followed by a pair of Carter Geditz two-point baskets.

Ipswich would then lead 19-8 after a quarter and improved that to 34-22 at halftime. The Tigers then obtained a 51-37 third-quarter cushion and coasted to their win.

Seven Tigers got into their scorebook, led by Heinz with 17 points. And he had netted four treys in a row for a 34-19 Tiger edge late in the second stanza. Ian Beyers added 15 points that featured one trey and Carter Geditz would match Beyers with 15 points as well, placing three Tigers in double-figures that evening.

Their next highest scorer would be Chet Peterson with eight points, including a trey and Tyler Hettich was right behind Peterson with seven points. (Hettich also distributed four of the Tigers' 12 assists.) Meanwhile Jace Konsor had a trey for his three points and Blake Rich completed their scoring effort with his two points.

Defensively it took a team effort to try to contain Faulkton's Layne Cotton, though. But he still scored a game-high 22 points, even though he got a lot of attention. But the rest of the Trojans weren't quite that productive, even though Roman DiMaria would reach double-figures with 11 points. Charlie Deiter tallied eight points and Spencer Melius, six points. DJ McGaugh contributed three points with a trey and Carter Hall added two points.

The Tigers were able to grab 25 rebounds led by Peterson with 12. And they came away with nine steals, led by Geditz with three thefts.
