Ipswich did quite well at a track and field meet hosted by Potter County last Saturday.

How well? The Tiger boys were first in their team standings which turned out to indeed be a battle of the Tigers. That's because the Ipswich Tigers edged their Mobridge-Pollock counterparts 157-118 for the boys crown. But the MoPo Tigers returned the favor with a 134 to 112.5 victory over runners-up Ipswich for the girls title.

Ipswich utilized impressive efforts in both the track and field events.

The pole vault area was the place to be in both the girls and boys divisions. Darrel Yost indeed won the boys pole vault at 10-03.00 with teammate Brody Davis in second also at 10-03 with their teammate Rasmus Loken in fourth at 9-09.00. And even more impressively Ipswich went 1-2-3-4-5 in the girls event. Marley Guthmiller won that with her 9-00.00 vault, followed by Quincy Olivier at 8-03.00, Jalyssa Hutson also at 8-03.00, Kaitlyn Williams at 7-09.00 and Kathryn Kilber also at 7-09.00.

Gracie Lange added a 4-10.00 girls high jump victory and Ashley Ptacek was busy winning the triple jump at 32-11.75.

Each of the IHS boys and girls were able to capture at least one relay and the Tiger girls actually won two of them. One win was the 4x100 in 55.74. Those runners were Brianna Geditz, Ashley Ptacek, Vanesa Diaz and Gracie Lange. The other girls' win was the medley ran by Brianna Geditz, Gracie Lange, Vanesa Diaz and Gracyn Kadlec at 5:03.80. And Turner Thorson, Kyle Hettich, Tyler Hettich and Trevor Heinz teamed up to capture the boys 4x200 baton event at 1:35.54. And Heinz would add an individual win of the long jump measured at 21-08.50.
