Ipswich boys win Eureka Kuchen Golf Classic

 


Eureka hosted a high school golf tourney on April 29 named the Eureka Kuchen Classic.

This was attended by the Ipswich boys who edged Edmunds Central 128 to 129 for their team title. Eight different boys teams were eligible for this affair with five girls' teams eligible for their team standings.

The girls' event was won by Faulkton 148 to 160 over the runners-up host team, Eureka, led by Faulkton's Gabby Kast at 47. The second-place girl would be Selby Area's Maize Baumann at 48.

The individual event on the boys side was won by Tray Hettick of Selby Area with his 41 and in second was Chet Peterson of Ipswich with a 42. Peterson just edged EC's top golfer that day, Seth Hettick, with both recording a 42. Cole Bukaske was next at 43 for the Raiders and four golfers were tied at 43, including Ipswich's Hayden Schlosser for sixth and Jace Konsor for seventh. They were followed by Ipswich's Tucker Kadlec in tenth with his 46.

The IHs girls were Mollie Simon in fourth at 49, followed by Baylee Kulesa at eighth with her 53. Rylee Kleffman became their third scorer with her 16th-place 59, followed by Hailey Usselman in 19th with a 61.

WESSINGTON SPRINGS

Ipswich High School golfers attended a meet in Wessington Springs on April 27 where the Tiger boys were third in their team standings and the IHS girls were second only to Potter County 284 to 374.

In the boys' action there were nine eligible teams with Ipswich scoring 238 team points behind Wessington Springs' 225 for first and Potter County in second at 261.

Individually Wessington Springs featured Blake Larson in first at 69 with Ethan Bartholow of James Valley Christian in second at 74. Ipswich was topped by Chet Peterson who was in a three-way logjam at 77 placing him fifth. Tucker Kadlec fired a 80 that was involved in a tie for ninth. Jace Konsor was 13th at 81 also tied with two other golfers. Hayden Schlosser added a 85 for 17th. Trevor Larson rounded out their effort with a 92 for 24th.

The Tiger girls were paced by Baylee Kulesa seventh at 108, followed by Rylee Kleffman in 15th at 128 and Hailey Usselman added her 138 for 17th.

The Mikkelsons were first and second individually from Potter County with a 90 and 93 respectively.

CLASS B CLASSIC

Ipswich participated in a high school golf invite at Mitchell on April 25.

The Tiger boys would place seventh in the team standings with 255 strokes, led by Tucker Kadlec 18th at 83. Next would be Jace Konsor 27th with a 86 and Chet Peterson 30th also with his 86. Trevor Larson was 79th with a 99.

Mollie Simon placed 35th for the Tiger girls with her 116.

The winning boy would be Gavin Colson of Sully Buttes at 72 topping Gregory's Eli Fogel at 76. But Gregory topped Sully Buttes 242 to 245 for the team crown.

The top girl would be Ayla McDonald of Chester with her 83, edging Miller's Jayce Pugh 83 to 84. But Miller bettered Chester 274 to 275 in the girls' team chase.
