IHS volleyball season begins Thursday at home

August 23, 2023

Ipswich has a youthful girls' high school volleyball team this year with no seniors, coached by Trent Osborne, assisted by Laura Ochsner. But they are enthusiastic to get their season underway. And they won't have long to wait. They'll host Highmore-Harrold on Thursday, August 24. The Tigers will also play host to Groton on Aug. 29. Both are non-conference affairs.

Their first Lake Region Conference outing will be at Warner on September 12. Another highlight of the season will be Ipswich's own tourney, the Subway Tournament on September 16 in the Tiger Den.

The Regionals are set for October 30,31 and November 2. The SoDak 16 is then on November 7 and the State B will be at Rapid City on November 16-18.

Kathryn Kilber is a varsity junior as are Rylee Kleffman, Jaydin Stiles, Reaghan Bowers, Kaylin Onken and Jayda Gisi.

There are quite a few varsity sophomores, namely Charli Rawden, Josie Knutson, Marley Guthmilller, Natalie Crissman, Gabby Wald and Brianna Geditz. Other JV sophomores will be Ava Davis, Karlie Weisser, Gracyn Kadlec, Praise Lange, Darby Yost and Neveah Moser.

Freshmen JV hopefuls include Anna Nierman, Mollie Simon, Jalyssa Hutson and Tristan Geditz.

“With the right blend of hard work, passion, and perseverance, we're confident that our young athletes will make their mark on the volleyball scene,” said Coach Trent Osborne. “The road ahead might be challenging, but our spirits are high, and we're ready to prove that age is just one factor in the equation of success.”
