September 27, 2023

The area runners attended a cross country invite hosted by Faulkton on September 20.

North Central's boys placed fourth among 13 eligible varsity teams. This was individually won by Miller's Pierce Baumberger in 17:02.18 followed closely by his teammate Alex Schumacher at 17:11.06.

So you might correctly guess that Miller would easily win the boys' standing with nine points followed by Northwestern with 22 points. Frederick Area was third with 43 points just ahead the Thunder's 49.

And the North Central varsity girls placed eighth as a team with 79 points. The invite was won by Potter County with 10 points. (James Valley Christian was second with 27.) Ella Boekelheide of Northwestern was the winner of this varsity event clocked at 19:29.15.

The NC girls varsity that day contained Grace Roth in 28th at 23:56.96, Melanie Dallenbach 34th in 24:11.36 and Kassandra Abbas 39th in 24:37.21.

The NC boys were led by Anthony Miller clocked at 19:06.28 for tenth. Drew Arbach was 21st at 19:53.19. Next would be Avery Wells in 25th at 20:02.37. And Theo Haerter placed 61st in 23:24.46.

Meanwhile Ipswich entered an individual runner or two in both the varsity girls and boys outcomes. Madisyn Gellhaus was 17th for the IHS girls with her 22:29.90 clocking and Gracyn Kadlec placed 20th in 22:58.92. Then Xavier Kadlec placed ninth at 19:04.06 in the varsity boys fray.

Both North Central and Ipswich were then scheduled to travel to Miller on Monday.
