Thunder girls get close win on road

The details of North Central's recent varsity basketball games at Timber Lake were released.

The Thunder girls indeed edged their hosts 39-37. They had narrowly led at each respective quarter ending 8-5, 21-18 and 28-26.

Jenisa Jacobs was one reason with 15 points. And Ella Batie added a double-double consisting of 10 points and 11 rebounds. Next would be Alaina Dosch with six points on a pair of treys. Amree Vander Vorst added four points and Katelyn Engelhart and Sydney Bertsch contributed two points apiece. (Jaylee Schoelerman led the Panthers with 13 points and six Panthers would score.)

The Thunder made 18 field goals including those two treys and they were 1-5 in free throws. Meanwhile Timber Lake totaled 15 baskets including two treys and went 4-10 in their own free throw opportunities.

The Thunder utilized 31 rebounds and the Panthers, 29 boards. North Central committed 23 turnovers, while Timber Lake sustained 20 miscues.

BOYS

Finally getting some info about the Thunder boys basketball trip to Timber Lake, the Thunder indeed dropped a 69-26 varsity outcome on December 28.

The hosts got out to a 21-6 first quarter start and would lead NC 47-17 at intermission. They then led 58-21 after three quarters were in the books.

The game-high scoring leader would become Tristan Dupris with 21 points. Cole Ducheneaux added 11 points and Gracen Hansen also got into double figures with his 10 points. Ten more Panthers would score.

The Thunder were led by Raynor Sprague with his 14 points. He included two treys. Zane Haar added a trey for his three points. Tim Rucker also scored three points. Brady Beitelspacher, Jade Jacobs and Dawson Walz each scored two points.

The Thunder ended up with eight two-point field goals and those three treys, plus one free throw. Timber Lake countered with 18 two-pointers, 10 huge treys and three free throws.

The Panthers collected 30 rebounds, while the Thunder would capture 16 rebounds paced by Walz and Cole Beitelspacher with four boards apiece. The Thunder had 18 turnovers that were somewhat neutralized by eight steals. But the hosts only had 10 turnovers.
