Tiger boys start 2024 with win

Ipswich out-manned Northwestern 64-34 in Lake Region Conference boys high school basketball action last Tuesday, Jan. 2 in the Tiger Den.

The Tigers had more than doubled the Wildcats 17-4 in the first quarter and would then lead 35-17 at halftime. Ipswich led 48-27 with a quarter to play and then coasted to a victory.

Ipswich enjoyed 21 points from Jace Konsor including one trey. Chet Peterson also reached double-figure scoring with 17 points and distributed five of his team's 17 assists. Next would be Trevor Heinz with seven points and Kyle Hettich scored six points with a pair of treys. The Kadlecs, Xavier and Tucker, each contributed four points. Luke Waltman got a trey for his three points and Rasmus Loken scored two points.

The visitors were led by Lincoln Woodring with 15 points. They had five different scorers.

Ipswich scored 26 total field goals that featured those four treys and was 8-13 in free throw shooting. The Wildcats made 14 baskets that included a trio of treys. They added three free throws in eight tries.

Ipswich grabbed 44 rebounds led by Peterson with eight retrieves and Northwestern countered with 27 rebounds. The visitors incurred 16 turnovers and Ipswich, 11. Five Northwestern miscues were Tiger steals led by Konsor with two thefts.
