Wolverines stop Tiger girls on the road

Ipswich was defeated by Herreid/Selby Area 49-21 in non-conference high school varsity basketball action on January 26 in Selby.

The Tigers would trail 17-9, 23-14 and 36-17 at each respective quarter break.

They were led in scoring by Marley Guthmiller's 10 points that included two treys. Next would be Anna Nierman with four points. Rylee Kleffman had a trey for her three points, while Tristan Geditz also netted three points. Kaylin Onken netted a free throw.

Jordyn Rossow led the hosts with her 14 points and Stephanie Allbee would score 11 points. Seven more Wolverines would enter their score book that day. They were able to score 14 deuces and five treys plus six free throws. Ipswich countered with four two-point baskets and added those three treys plus four accurate free throw tries.

Ipswich totaled 30 rebounds led by Onken's 10. The Tigers also got five rebounds from both Guthmiller and Tristan Geditz. (The hosts had 44 rebounds.)

Ipswich incurred 20 turnovers and HSA 17. But the Tigers claimed six steals, led by Brianna Geditz with three thefts.

The IHS girls hosted Leola/Frederick Area on Tuesday. Thursday the girls and boys play a doubleheader in Miller. They will host Aberdeen Christian on Feb. 6 in the Tiger Den for another doubleheader.
