The North Central Thunder boys varsity captured a 65-59 overtime win over Herreid/Selby Area there on February 10.

The fourth-quarter buzzer ended a 56-56 standoff. But the Thunder would outscore their hosts 9-3 in the first OT to abruptly settle the issue.

What more can you want? The hosts scored 18 first-quarter points compared to NC's 13. And the half found the Thunder emerging with a 22-20 lead of their own. The third quarter would end up with the Wolverines back in control at 41-36. But not for long.

The Thunder would be led by Raynor Sprague with 20 points including five treys. Cole Beitelspacher added 16 points with three treys and Zane Haar and Dawson Walz each added 10 points. Cooper Oxner had five points with one trey and Brady Beitelspacher contributed four points.

The hosts were led by Wayne Grage with 22 points. Five more Wolverines would enter their scoring column. The Thunder finished with 13 two-pointers and nine treys plus 12 free throws in 24 tries. The hosts made 17 deuces, five treys and 10 free throws.

You may credit the Wolverines with 24 rebounds and NC Thunder with 36 boards. They were led by Sprague and Haar with eight rebounds.

Each team had 17 turnovers and they also both had nine steals. How close is that?

The NC boys were scheduled to play Wakpala Monday night on the road. The Thunder girls played Great Plains Lutheran on Tuesday, Feb. 13 in Aberdeen. The NC girls play Leola/Frederick Area on Thursday, Feb. 15 in Leola. Friday the boys and girls play a doubleheader at Sunshine Bible Academy in the SBA Event Center. Saturday the boys host McLaughlin in Bowdle. Feb. 19 the boys play Great Plains Lutheran in Aberdeen.
