    The 2023 Edmunds County Achievement Days were held August 2-4 in Ipswich. The event started on Wednesday morning with the Dog Show. They were judged on obedience, agility, rally, and showmanship. Top showman awards will be presented at Recognition Night. The Dog Show was followed by the Cat Show. The day ended with the Horse Show and Fun Day at the Trail Days Complex with a variety of events.     Ashley Geist-Cusick’s dance students performed Saturday, Aug. 5 in the Ipswich School Theatre. The classes dancing were Creative Movement (the youngest dancers), Early Elementary, Upper Elementary and Middle School, and High School Class. The older students also presented solos and duets.     Hosmer youth are invited to celebrate summer with a parade on Saturday afternoon, August 12. Decorate a bike, wagon or use your imagination. Line up at 2:30 p.m. by the Cozy Creative Corner, 11 Main St. The parade will begin at 3 p.m. The kiddie parade participants will start by the Bank and move toward the Meat Market.     The Storybook Land Theatre On Tour cast will present “The Perfect Dog” this morning, Aug 9 at 10:30 a.m. in the Ipswich Bandshell on Main Street.     Ipswich music students Gavin Wollman, Hannah Beyers and Lawson Santema were selected to represent Ipswich on the 2023 South Dakota Music Ambassador trip to Europe. They were part of the concert band directed by retired Aberdeen Central Band Director Jerry Letcher and Sioux Falls O'Gorman band director Ben Koch.     Fortunately the heaviest rain storms avoided us early Saturday during the opening hours of the Ipswich community rummage sales. But the precipitation would unfortunately intensify which still didn't hinder the sales that were totally indoors. Youth with at least five years of active membership in 4-H, current high school seniors, or those enrolled at SDSU are eligible to apply for the scholarships.     The Warner-Ipswich-Northville Junior Legion team finished in sixth place at the state tournament in Lennox this past weekend. The tournament was plagued with water issues, all weekend, resulting in the fifth/sixth place contest being relocated to Groton. In game first game, w.i.n. faced a tough Belle Fourche pitcher in Nolan Wahlfeldt who struck out 13 of the 27 batters he faced and only allowed 4 hits.     The Northville Merchants, an amateur baseball team, played in the state tournament on Friday, August 4th in Mitchell. They were beat out by the Menno Mad Frogs with a score of 8-3, ending their season with a record of 4 and 5.
