    The Ipswich National Honor Society (NHS) was unable to take their trip to New York and Washington DC in 2020 due to COVID-19. This month, the Ipsodak NHS Educational Adventure included students from the classes of 2020, 2021 and 2022. The 22 students and nine adults drove to Minneapolis on June 12.     Richland Church Pastor Ron Wickard gave the sermon "Reflections on 42 years" on June 20. It was his final sermon before his retirement. Pastor Sam Crabtree, a friend and associate of Pastor Ron's, spoke on June 27 at the special service to celebrate Wickard's retirement.   • Fireworks discouraged

    Roscoe and Ipswich City Councils have city ordinance prohibiting the discharge of fireworks. Due to the dry conditions in the county this year, Ipswich will specifically ban aerial fireworks within the city limits. Anyone lighting aerial fireworks will be subject to a fine. The Edmunds County Commission approved an ordinance prohibiting any type of open burning within the county without prior approval. The ordinance was approved in July of 2004....

This year’s theme is “4-H Through the Decades.” They are looking for entries that match the theme. Items newly-made or made throughout the last 120 years.     Project Day was held on Wednesday, June 23 at the 4- H Building in Ipswich. Twenty-five members showed their creativity making a USA Block Flag or Scorch Pen Design. Project Day was headed by Meredith Schumacher and Nichole Olson from Love Re-Purposed. Parents were there to help their child as needed. Members enjoyed a pizza supper with chips and a dessert.     Dale and Leann Fredrickson were married on June 17, 1956. Pictured are those who attended the wedding in 1956. Dale's nephew Curt Fredrickson, front row, was the four-year-old ring bearer. Also in the front row are Dale and Leann (Jones) and Dale's sister, Ardyce, who was a Bridesmaid.     The annual Mina Lake Freedom Festival is set for Saturday, July 3, culminating with a huge fireworks display at around 10 p.m. It will be preceded by live music by Avenger Joe, starting at 9 p.m. continuing until 1 a.m. Free is the word for the Fest!     Rev. Timothy Smith of Ipswich hit a hole-in-one at Split Rock Country Club in Ipswich on Friday night, June 25, 2021. Father Smith hit his ace on Hole 2 from 153 yards using a five iron. Jon Hoffman of Mina was the witness. Father Smith was practicing for a Knights of Columbus charity event planned in Ipswich on August 22. He said the shot was truly of an example of "Divine Intervention" and credits his guardian angel for the help....
