More than 64% of Edmunds County voters turned out last week for the Nov. 8, 2022 General Election. County Auditor Keith Schurr was re-elected, receiving 983 votes. Daniel “DJ” Hardison had 688 votes. Micheal J. Geditz was elected District 3 County Commissioner. The District 3 voters elected Geditz with 186 votes over incumbent Jerome Schaffner, 104 votes. The Ipswich Veterans Day program was held on Monday, Nov. 14 in the School Theatre. The program had been postponed due to wintry weather on Nov. 11. Two area nine-man high school football teams lost their Dome appearances last weekend, Herreid/ Selby Area to Hitchcock-Tulare which would actually be yet another area team themselves in 9B, while Warner was defeated by Gregory in Class 9A. Meanwhile, Wall remained undefeated in Class 9AA, the big schools league. The Nike Cross Regionals took place at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls on Sunday, November 13. The competition, in the Heartland, was a seven-state event, including Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. There were over 4,000 registrants, making this the largest regional competition in Sioux Falls history. There were five sections in the Boy’s Open Invitational, with a total of 1590 runners.
